Find your best fit at Cisco

At Cisco, we're a team of real people doing great things. We want you to bring your experience, your problem-solving skills, your talent, and your passion for innovation to work with you. We want you to be yourself and find your best-fit role here.

Learn

Discover what it’s like to be a Cisconian. From our commitment to an inclusive future for all, to our product innovations, to our extensive employee benefits, we have a lot to offer you.

Search and apply

The first step is to find the right opportunity for you. You can search for open jobs by location, team, or keywords. Just chat with the bot or upload your resume and get recommendations here on the site.

Connect

If you’re selected to move forward, we’ll reach out for a conversation to learn more about you, share what to expect in the process, and answer your questions.

Prepare

Come ready to tell us your story and connect your experience to the opportunity here. Be sure to bring questions for us, too.

Interview and assessment

Our interview process varies by team and role, but your recruiter will tell you what to expect. You’ll have the opportunity to share your experience and may take an assessment.

What's next?

After your interview, we’ll further review your application and interview feedback. If you’re selected for the role, your recruiter will reach out with an offer.

Tips from our recruiters

We want you to succeed. Our recruiters have some advice for navigating the process and how to set yourself apart. Every role and interviewer is different, but only you can tell your story effectively.
A young white woman with long blonde hair wearing a yellow blouse smiles at the camera standing in front of a blurred building background.
"Be sure to list any professional development courses, certifications and/or licenses you've received. Not only does this provide information that could be incredibly beneficial for the role you're applying for, but it also shows that you take initiative outside of your standard job responsibilities to develop your skill set!"

A dark-haired man with a beard wearing a white, green, and and brown checked button-down shirt stands in front of a white wall and looks thoughtfully at the camera.
"When applying for a role at Cisco, think really big about your experience! Be ready to articulate how your skills align to the minimum job qualifications posted on the job description. Including a cover letter that explains why you are interested and qualified will allow you to have a much more fluid conversation."

A young blonde woman with long hair smiles with her chin on her hand while wearing a white shirt under a beige blazer.
"A quick way to gauge if you will be considered for the next step is to review the minimum qualifications listed in the job description. As a recruiter, our first step in the assessment process is to make sure that the experience listed in the minimum requirements, are evident (and measurable) on your resume!

Answers to your questions

Interview process times vary by role, but many interviews are generally completed within 2-3 weeks.

Applications are reviewed frequently, and while response time varies, most applicants will hear back within 7-10 days of applying. We strive to communicate the status of all applications within a reasonable amount of time. However, this can vary depending on the nature of the position and the number of applicants. You are welcome to view the status of your application by logging into Cisco's Candidate Portal.

Yes, we generally welcome Cisconians to work in most of our offices where it's convenient and based on any capacity limits. Some roles may require specific locations.

At Cisco, we foster a culture where everyone can connect, contribute, and thrive–accelerating business goals within Cisco and across our customers, partners and suppliers.

Our business has always been about enabling people to connect and collaborate across distance and difference, because we know diverse perspectives and experiences fuel innovation and customer success. Our strategies integrate inclusive principles into our operations, workforce strategy, external ecosystems, and brand. To scale our impact, we take our own best practices and share them with others.

We offer learning and development opportunities for employees and leaders at all levels to support inclusion, build relationships, and create meaningful connections and business value within Cisco and across our partner and customer ecosystem.

Recharge and refocus with paid time off and paid holidays. Plus, we offer four Days for Me every year—that’s four extra days off to pause and step away from work, just because!

Please visit the Benefits page to learn more about time away.

Cisco does not consider citizenship status in its hiring decisions. If you require sponsorship, Cisco will consider sponsoring a candidate for an employment-based visa if: (1) the position is for an eligible job, (2) the candidate is qualified for the position, and (3) the business is supportive of paying the related costs. Cisco will pay for premium processing where a specific business or legal need justifies the expedited process.

We offer flexible work practices and allow our employees the option of working remotely if your job permits. If your job description states that your role is remote/distributed, you will not be required to come into an office at this time. We encourage you to reach out to your recruiter for specific detail.

Cisco offers next-level benefits. Cisconians have access to programs to boost wellbeing, resources to help you make the most of your money, and tools to help you grow and care for your family. We also have time-away programs designed to help strike the right work-life balance. Learn more about our benefits on our Benefits & Perks page.

Unfortunately, recruitment fraud is a well-known way that third parties try to get personal information. You can read a little bit about how to protect yourself by reviewing the FBI’s warning. Please note: Cisco will never ask for a fee of any kind to apply. There are no application fees, recruiter placement fees, interview reservation fees, training fees, resume formatting/re-writing fees, etc.

You can read about what a legitimate Cisco application and hiring process looks like above. Please be wary of anything that deviates from that experience, such as:
  • Someone using an email alias (other than xxx@cisco.com) to contact you for personal information including your address, date of birth, passport information, social security number (or other government identification), and/or banking details.
  • Someone using an email alias (other than scheduling@phenomscheduling.com, hiring@careers.cisco.com or opportunities@careeralerts.cisco.com) to contact you about a fake OR legitimate job posting.
  • Please closely review the name of the sender and the email domain name associated with their account. All official Cisco recruitment emails will come from accounts formatted as:  scheduling@phenomscheduling.com, hiring@careers.cisco.com or opportunities@careeralerts.cisco.com.
  • Being asked to participate in an interview by chat or email. Cisco does not conduct interviews by chat or email, and will always want to meet either over Webex, on the phone or in person.
  • Someone urgently insisting that you act immediately within a very short time frame.
  • Someone making you a job offer through social media or an online forum, or making a job offer for a role you have not applied to or interviewed for. Before Cisco extends an offer, all candidates will first meet with the recruiter and interview team (either over Webex, on the phone or in person) consistent with our application and hiring process described above.

Cisco will never ask you to make financial transactions on its behalf or for any Cisconians. Cisco will never ask you to receive and ship packages or goods during the recruitment process.

If you experience anything like this in connection with an alleged opportunity at Cisco, please let us know at gscc@cisco.com.

Some positions will require a pre-employment assessment through one of our testing assessment partners. Your recruiter will provide more information if a position you are being considered for has technical assessment requirements.

We deeply value and welcome the skills, creativity, and unique perspectives that each candidate brings to our company, and are committed to promoting fairness, honesty, and originality in all aspects of our hiring process. To ensure the integrity in your application process and reliability of our evaluations, we require appropriate candidate input when using emerging Generative AI technologies like ChatGPT and co-pilots.

Our perspective? Any tools used to prepare yourself for the hiring process should not replace your authentic thoughts, experiences, and capabilities.

Read more about our perspective on which behaviors are permitted (and not) in the Generative AI Best Practices and Permitted Uses overview here.

There are millions of ways people are using AI technologies when applying for jobs, writing resumes, and preparing for interviews. Here are a few examples of when you should and should NOT use AI during Cisco’s hiring process.
DO use AI to…
  • Ask for tips on how to prepare for different types of tests and interviews
  • Structure thoughts, check readability, and enhance clarity of responses, emails, resumes, and cover letters
  • Review job listings to find keywords to use in your resume or cover letter that accurately reflect your personal experience
  • Brainstorm multiple approaches to solving a coding problem or system design question
  • Review code for errors or suggest improvement
  • As a calculator
Do NOT use AI to…
  • Generate scripted responses to write your resume, cover letter, or writing sample (that means no copying and pasting!)
  • Generate a scripted response to complete an assessment
  • Create a script to read from to respond to an interview question
  • Create imaginary, dishonest, or inaccurate thoughts and experiences
  • Generate a solution to a coding problem or design question in real-time
  • Generate entire code segments and present them as your own work

The most important part? Make sure you (yes, the real, authentic, human you) are always driving your application process. Our teams want to know your unique thoughts, learn about your individual experiences, and see the ways you process information! Have more questions? Read more at our Generative AI Best Practices and Permitted Uses overview here.
